This was a very interesting story. You really entered into the world and POV of one of the wolves, and showed their ability to remember, their strong sense of fear in relation to us. The whole narrative had a dreamlike quality to it. I like that memory was strongly associated with the sense of smell, as it is so tied in people. Great work.
Clint, it is such a joy to read these stories. Somehow they give me hope for our planet and ecosystems...a hope that is all but absent from the current political environment but hopefully will return soon!! Thank you for your contribution to our ongoing efforts to restore what we "upright ones" have damaged so grievously!
Thank you, Lauri. I'm so glad these stories are meaningful to you, and I'm even happier to be "on the team" with you, trying to make a difference in the world!
What a great, vivid daydream by Black Wolf of his capture and release, and his journey that reunited him with his sister...The part that spoke to me most was after he was captured: “he knows he will be torn to pieces, but they are gentle and he is unharmed”… it reminded me that the scenario he lived through was for his benefit, not to do him harm.
Brilliant

This unusual story was a lot of fun to write. I'm so glad it connected with you!
I felt his serenity. I felt his fear. I felt his relief and hope.
Thanks Jay. That's a perfect expression of the journey I'd hoped to take you on.
